The latest statistics are out from McCarran, and positive trends continue in April, with a 3.1% increase in passenger volume from the same month a year ago. 2018 is up an even 3% over the same point in 2017.
The 3% theme continues with domestic traffic, but the standout is international passengers, up 7% from a year ago. You may remember that international visitation was weak for several months in 2017 – that appears to have changed in the new year.
For the top five domestic carriers, United posted a strong gain of 12.5% in April along with Delta and Spirit, which pretty consistently leads growth from month to month. Southwest and American posted small losses in passengers and are essentially flat for the year to date.
